David Richard Abrego

Abrego, 77

David Richard Abrego, 77, died on July 7, 2023. He was born on April 10, 1946 to Trinidad and Blanca Abrego.

He is preceded in death by his parents, brother Adrian and sister Blanca Linda Abrego.

David is survived by his wife of 29 years, Trinidad Abrego, daughter Nadine/Gary Crosswell, son David Richard Abrego Jr./Christine, daughter Pauline/Brandan Segura, ten grandchildren, brothers Diego/Barbara Abrego, Rene/Lee Abrego, Reynaldo Abrego, Fidel Abrego and Victor/Bianca Abrego and stepsons Alfredo Garza/Adolph Jimenez and many other extended family members in Cotulla.

He lived in Floresville for 22 years, was a parishioner at Sacred Heart Church, served as usher, lector, was President of the St. Vincent De Paul Society, belonged to the Pastoral Council, and was a member of the Knights of Columbus. His father was a former student of Lyndon B. Johnson at the Welhausen Elementary in Cotulla and owned Trini’s Restaurant. His father is also prominently featured on the downtown mural in front of the county courthouse and in the Brush Country Museum.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, July 18 and a viewing was held at Sacred Heart Church Hall (across from the Franklin Funeral Home from 9 to 10 a.m. Rosary was recited at 10 a.m. and Mass followed at 10:30 a.m.  Interment was held following the Mass at Sacred Heart Cemetery.
