Frio jobless rate rose to 3.5 percent in June, Workforce office reports

The Frio County unemployment rate increased to 3.5 percent in June, up from the 3.3 percent rate of the previous month in the Workforce Solutions Alamo (WSA) jobs report.
The unemployment rate is lower than the 3.8 percent rate of the 13-county Workforce Development Area and lower than the 4.2 percent rate for Texas. Frio County’s rate was fourth highest in the 13-county WDA area and 325 people are actively looking and available for work.
Workforce Solutions Alamo (WSA) released June 2023 unemployment data for the Alamo Region including Atascosa, Bandera, Bexar, Comal, Frio, Gillespie, Guadalupe, Karnes, Kendall, Kerr, McMullen, Medina, and Wilson counties.
Workforce Solutions Alamo (WSA), reports the June 2023 unadjusted unemployment rate for the eight-county San Antonio-New Braunfels Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA) increased to 3.9 percent, higher than the 3.8 rate in May 2023, according to reports released by the Texas Workforce Commission (TWC). The 3.9 percent unemployment rate represents 49,520 people seeking meaningful employment out of a total labor force of 1,284,074 people. The region’s June 2023 unemployment rate is lower than the state’s unadjusted (actual) rate of 4.2 percent.

Since June of 2022, 41,700 jobs were added in the MSA, resulting in an annual increase of 3.7 percent.
