Cotulla ISD has begun hosting its free food distribution to the general public through its Peoples’ Pantry, which takes place from 8 to 11:30 a.m. every second and fourth Saturday of the month in the George Hopkins Cafeteria on Baylor Street (Photos this page). Foods are supplied for the pantry by the San Antonio Food Bank and local food banks to provide canned goods, dry foods and a wide variety of meats, perishables and dairy products to all those who need them. There are no application requirements. Volunteers for the pantry come from the ranks of Cotulla ISD’s staff and students and from the community; the event held Saturday, July 22, included manpower from Minerva Rios, Cotulla High School Cheerleaders Jesirae Alvarado and Anadelia Garcia, CHS student Elijah Rios, NMS student Victoria Rodriguez, Hilda Benavidez, Eliseo Rios, Kijana Rios, Rosario Morales, Nini Gonzalez, Hector Barron, Jose Gonzalez, Benito Castillo and Brandon Zertuche.
