Firefighters from Dilley were joined by responders from Bigfoot and Atascosa County on Monday, July 24, in suppressing a wildfire that had ignited beside FM 140 near the Hwy 85 intersection in eastern Frio County. Officers reported the blaze was moving fast through dry brush and was being fed by light winds. Frio County is presently under a burn ban due to extreme drought conditions. Area residents are prevented from burning trash outdoors and may only conduct agricultural burns under supervision of county authorities while the risk of fast-moving wildfires remains high, threatening lives and property.
