Jose Manuel Garcia, 74, died on July 8, 2023 in San Antonio. He was born on July 30, 1948 in Hondo to Augustine R. Garcia and Trinidad Solis Garcia.

He is preceded in death by his parents, sister Guadalupe Garcia and brother Samuel Garcia.

Jose is survived by his wife Linda M. Garcia, daughters Windee Garcia Fala, Lynn Garcia Deleon, brothers Augustine Garcia Jr. (Anita), Joe F. Garcia (Josie), sisters Janie Villanueva, Victoria Heissler, Rosie Thompson (Larry Burell), Mary Lou Velarde (Roy), Ruby Rodriguez (Billie J. Gonzales), Mary Jane Arausa (Willie), as well as numerous grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

He went to school in Yancey, graduating in 1968. In 1969, Jose enlisted in the United States Navy, serving his country for 22 years before retiring.

Visitation was held at Watershed Church in San Antonio on Tuesday, July 25 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. He was afforded military honors at 1:45 p.m. Tim Tate officiated the 2 p.m. service. Interment followed at Ft. Sam Houston in San Antonio.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
