PEARSALL, COTULLA ATHLETES KICK FOOTBALL, VOLLEYBALL CROSS COUNTRY WORKOUTS INTO HIGH GEAR
Athletes in Pearsall and Cotulla kicked their Fall Sports workouts into high gear this week as volleyball has opened with scrimmages while football players begin full contact workouts.
Volleyball scrimmages opened August 4 as Pearsall and Cotulla squared off in a workout at CHS while Dilley had a tri-scrimmage session at D’Hanis against the Cowgirls and Bandera.
The cross country season will kick off this week as Dilley travels to the Ingram Invitational. Pearsall will host time trials at the Victor Trevino Sports Complex and open the year on Saturday, August 19 at the Floresville Invitational, along with Cotulla.
All three football squads will be out of town this week as Pearsall will scrimmage San Antonio Kennedy Thursday, August 10 at Edgewood ISD Veterans Stadium. That event is slated for a 6 p.m. start time.
Dilley will host Crystal City the same day at Gosch Field. Start times against the Javelinas are scheduled for 6 and 7 p.m.
Cotulla will be in La Pryor on Friday, August 11 to take on the Bulldogs. That contest is slated for 5 p.m.
All three schools will also host introductory events for their Fall Sports Athletes this week.
Meet the Mavs will be in Pearsall on Friday at 7 p.m. at Mack Laxson Field.
Football players, volleyball girls, cross country runners, as well as cheerleaders, members of the dance team and athletic trainers and staff will be introduced to the public during the event.
Dilley’s Meet the Wolves will likewise be at 7 p.m. on Friday at Gosch Field while CHS will host Meet the Cowboys on Thursday, August 10 at 7 p.m. at the high school gymnasium.
