LADY MAVS INVITATIONAL VOLLEYBALL TOURNAMENT
Pearsall will play host to the annual Lady Mavs Volleyball Invitational this week with ten teams in contention for the championship title in pool and bracket play on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
Play begins on Thursday morning, August 24 with pool play in three divisions. Charlotte, Cotulla, Knippa and San Antonio Sam Houston will be in Pool A; Dilley, San Antonio South San West Campus and Utopia will be in Pool B; and Pearsall, Tilden and San Antonio Fox Tech will compete in Pool C.
Teams will play Round Robin style in the opening rounds and play three games. Teams will then be seeded by record for bracket play on Saturday.
Locally, Cotulla will take the court on Thursday at 9:45 a.m. against Sam Houston, 12:15 p.m. against Knippa and 2:45 p.m. against Charlotte.
Pearsall and Dilley won’t take the court until Friday for pool play. The Lady Mavs have back-to-back games at 8 a.m. and 9:15 a.m. against Tilden and Fox Tech and close out the day at 2:45 p.m. against West Campus.
Dilley opens tournament play at 8 a.m. against Utopia and 10:30 a.m. against West Campus. The Lady Wolves close out pool play at 1 p.m. against Tilden.
Championship bracket play begins at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday. Games are then scheduled for 9:45 a.m., 11 a.m. and 12:15 p.m. in that bracket.
Teams finishing in third or fourth place following pool play will compete in the consolation bracket at the Pearsall Junior High School gym. Games in that bracket are slated for 8:30 a.m., 9:45 a.m., 11 a.m., 12:15 p.m., 1:30 p.m. and 2:45 p.m.
