The Frio County unemployment rate increased to 3.9 percent in July, up from the 3.5 percent rate of the previous month in the Workforce Solutions Alamo (WSA) jobs report.
The unemployment rate is lower than the 4.2 percent rate of the 13-county Workforce Development Area and lower than the 4.5 percent rate for Texas.
Frio County’s rate was fourth lowest in the 13-county WDA area and 362 people are actively looking and available for work.
Workforce Solutions Alamo (WSA) released July 2023 unemployment data for the Alamo Region including Atascosa, Bandera, Bexar, Comal, Frio, Gillespie, Guadalupe, Karnes, Kendall, Kerr, McMullen, Medina, and Wilson counties.
Workforce Solutions Alamo (WSA) reports the July 2023 unadjusted unemployment rate for the eight-county San Antonio-New Braunfels Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA) increased to 4.2 percent, higher than the 3.8 rate in June (after adjustments from the Bureau of Labor Statistics.), according to reports released by the Texas Workforce Commission (TWC).
The 4.2 percent unemployment rate represents 54,865 people seeking meaningful employment out of a total labor force of 1,291,056 people.
The region’s July 2023 unemployment rate is lower than the state’s unadjusted (actual) rate of 4.5 percent.

Since July of 2022, 30,300 jobs were added in the MSA, resulting in an annual increase of 2.7 percent.
