DILLEY CROSS COUNTRY

Anthony Guerra
The Lady Wolves were seventh overall while the Wolves were tenth in action at the Medina Valley Cross Country Invitational in Castroville last weekend.
Anthony Guerra earned a top 15 finish while Chloe Rodriguez paced the girls at the event.
“Our teams competed in another big meet once again,” DHS Head Coach Victor Flores said. “It was a semi-flat course with some rolling hills, stout competition, humidity, and had over 16 teams in attendance.
“On the boys side, we were missing one of our top runners, Xavier Hernandez, but they managed to come in tenth out of 18 teams in the 1A-4A division behind some state qualifying teams like Lytle, SA Randolph, SA Cole, and Bandera.
The meet marked the first with Dilley’s girls competing as a full unit and the end results displayed their effectiveness running together.
“Our girls had a full team this week and came in right behind Hondo in the final standings,” Flores said. “Hondo was second in district last year and we hope to catch them before district this season.
“I’m proud of how all our runners competed on a tough course with almost 100 runners in every division.”
