Pearsall’s young Lady Mavs continued to play hard but still struggled in losses to St. Mary’s and D’Hanis in non-district volleyball action last week.
The team is currently on a five-game skid dating back to the Pearsall tournament on August 26.
“We have been struggling with learning how to accept our errors and learning from our mistakes during game play,” PHS Head Volleyball Coach Erika Tellez said of her young squad. “Their team connection has improved and their communication on the court has also improved.”
The Lady Mavs took on St. Mary’s on Tuesday, September 5 and dropped a three-set match.
Although competitive in both outings, the team’s inconsistencies hampered their scoring.
St. Mary’s took a 25-20, 25-17 and 25-20 decision in the Tuesday evening matchup.
In another competitive loss on Friday, D’Hanis was likewise able to secure a three-set victory, although the Lady Mavs once again put up a competitive fight.
The Cowgirls earned a 25-23, 25-19, 25-15 decision.
The drive to find consistency took some urgency this week as the team opened district play on Tuesday evening in Floresville.
Pearsall will then return home on Friday as they play host to Uvalde on September 15.
The team will then be at Carrizo Springs on September 19.
