Alex Sandoval
Two Houston teens were cuffed in La Salle County last week after leading Encinal police and other agencies on a high-speed pursuit in a stolen car carrying undocumented immigrants.
Identified as Alex Sandoval and Arthur Lara, ages 17 and 18, the suspects were subject to a routine traffic stop in Encinal on Thursday, September 7, when they sped away from officers on IH-35.
The police report shows Sandoval was driving and led officers off the interstate onto FM 133, where he stopped the car. Police said both he and Lara fled on foot into the brush and were caught by US Border Patrol agents and Highway Patrol troopers.
Two men identified only as undocumented immigrants were found in the truck of the car.
The car had been stolen in Houston, according to the emergency dispatch office.
The teens were jailed on charges related to human smuggling and car theft.
Also assisting in the case were deputies of the Dimmit County Sheriff’s Office and the La Salle County Pct. 2 constable.
