Ruth “Ruthie” Mina Schulte, 80, died on Thursday, September 21, 2023. She was born on September 13, 1943 in Medina County, the seventh child and third daughter of Alfred H. and Louisa Hartman Schulte.

She is preceded in death by her parents, brothers Alfred, Leroy, and David and her sisters Mary “Mitzi” and Carolyn.

Ruthie is survived by Stanley, her husband of 58 years, her son Jason and her daughter Melissa, grandchildren Danielle, Cody, Colton, Addison (Addie), and Dauniea, her sister Myrtle Schneider, brother Charles “Sonny” Schulte and wife Annette, and her brother Thomas “Tommy” Schulte, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and admirers.

Ruth attended school in Hondo, graduating from Hondo High School in 1962. She graduated from Johnson’s Beauty College in 1964 and worked as a stylist in the Hondo beauty shop. Afterward, she was the librarian at Ted Flores Elementary School in Pearsall for many years.

She married her husband Stanley Austin Franklin on February 12, 1965. Stanley is a native of Dawson County, Texas. They had their first child, Jason, in 1972 and their daughter, Melissa, was born in 1975.

Ruthie was fond of gambling trips to Vegas and Eagle Pass and enjoyed playing bingo, bunco, and visiting arts and crafts shows. She had a passion for gardening and scrapbooking. She especially enjoyed attending granddaughter, Addie’s, volleyball games.
