District 29-4A Basketball
Pearsall falls to Eagles, Warhorses with playoffs in the balance.
A week after posting consecutive wins and moving within a game of locking up a playoff berth, Pearsall dropped two straight to fall to 5-5 in the standings.
Sitting at 5-3 in district a week ago, Pearsall needed a win over struggling Pleasanton to secure a playoff spot and another over Devine last Friday to clinch the third seed. The Mavericks lost both, falling 63-53 to the Eagles and 60-50 to the Warhorses.
Pearsall had previously beaten both teams in the first round of league play
Pleasanton is sixth in the standings while Devine currently sits fifth in district.
The Mavericks remain alone in third place, a full game ahead of Carrizo Springs, who they own a tiebreaker over.
Pearsall closes out the year at home Tuesday evening against league frontrunner Somerset and February 13 against second place Floresville.
