PEARSALL POWERLIFITNG
Pearsall’s Lady Mavs finished second overall while the Mavs were fourth at the Texas Strength Systems UTSA Intitational #9 in San Antonio last Wednesday, February 7.
Four lifters won their respective weight classes and ten total athletes finished in the top five at the event.
Pearsall’s Neela Escobedo won the 165-lb. weight class with a total lift of 620 lbs. while Jacelynn Chavera took first in the 198-lb. division with a total weight of 685 lbs.
The Mavs’ Marc Ramirez won the 114-lb. division with a total lift of 745 lbs. Ryan Hughes also took first in the super heavyweight division, winning that weight class with a lift of 1,460 lbs.
Mariana Urrea, Maddison Luera, Dominque Sambrano and Bralyn Phillips were all second in their respective divisions.
Urrea was second at 123 lbs., Luera competed at 148 lbs. while Sambrano was second at 198 lbs. Phillips was second at 181 lbs. in the boys’ division.
JoAnthony Jasso was third for the Mavs at 198 lbs. and Rodolfo Ortegon was fourth in the same weight class.
The last chance qualifying meet for girls will be on Saturday, February 17 in Crystal City while the final qualifying meet for the boys will be on Wednesday, February 21 at the Texas Strength Systems event.
These meets are the final opportunity for any lifters that have not met a regional qualifying lift and earn a spot at the regional competition on Friday, March 8 in Kingsville.
