Medina, 81
Domingo M. Medina Jr., 81, and known to many as the ‘Marlboro Man’, died on March 25, 2024, in San Antonio. He was born on September 19, 1942 in Pearsall to Domingo Medina and Celestina Martinez Medina.
He is preceded in death by his parents, children Christopher Medina, baby Minerva Medina, grandchildren Dominic Riley Cordova, Cleopetra Chacon and Jacob Chacon, son in law Raymond Cantu and brothers Carlos Medina and Eliseo Medina.
Domingo is survived by his wife of 61 years, Minerva Munoz Medina, children Charlene Medina, Sonia Dawn Cantu and Rachel Dee Cordova (Mario Jr.), siblings Leonor Herrera, Lisia Rendon, Rosario Silva, Mario Medina, Esmeralda Castillo and Andrea Rodriguez, as well as 16 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Domingo worked as a truck driver for most of his career before retiring in 2008. He enjoyed baseball, especially in his younger years and had the opportunity to showcase his talent at Castillo’s ballpark, Angels Ballroom and Chitos Arena in Pearsall. He also enjoyed fishing and hunting, watching sports games especially those featuring the Dallas Cowboys or San Antonio Spurs and also enjoyed spending time watching shows like Wheel of Fortune along with educating himself through programs on The History Channel.
Pallbearers included Michael Cantu, Abraham Cantu, Xavier Marcus Cordova, Mario Andrew Cordova, Benjamin James Chacon and Daniel Cardenas.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, April 2 from 9 to 10:20 a.m. at Trevino Royal Oaks Funeral Chapels in Pearsall followed by a Rosary at 10:30 a.m. Funeral mass was held at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church at 1 p.m. Interment following at the Pearsall Cemetery.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Treviño Royal Oaks Funeral Chapels.
