To the rescue

Dilley Volunteer Fire Department Chief AJ Gonzales and members of his crew, and La Salle County Fire Rescue Chief Daniel Mendez and Assistant Chief Gilbert Martinez and members of the county firefighting brigade met with representatives of the Plains All American pipeline company Tuesday afternoon, March 26, to receive donations of firefighting trucks, emergency response vehicles, an ambulance and specialized emergency gear and protective masks as part of the energy industry company’s grant program aimed at supporting regional and rural emergency services. The donated equipment and vehicles are valued at $110,000 and will be used to supplement the service fleets in Dilley and across La Salle County. This year’s donation by Plains is made in memory of company employee Mike Page, who died in 2023 and was an outspoken supporter of rural, volunteer and non-profit emergency responders.
