Immigrants flung from car in rollover

The wreckage of a car used for transporting undocumented immigrants lies where it landed beside IH-35 after a high-speed rollover on March 27.
A Del Rio man was hospitalized and remanded into custody in La Salle County last week after being held responsible for the deaths of two undocumented immigrants in a crash on IH-35.
Emergency responders were alerted shortly before 8 p.m. Wednesday, March 27, that the driver of a Ford Fusion sedan had evaded law enforcement officers and was speeding north through La Salle County.
The driver has been identified as Timothy Dwaine Livingston, 46.
Reports from the Texas Department of Public Safety indicated Livingston lost control of his car a mile north of Artesia Wells at 8:04 p.m., causing it to leave the paved road and roll over. Two occupants of the vehicle were ejected during the rollover and died as a result of their injuries.
Livingston was reported as having suffered incapacitating injuries in the crash and was transported to hospital. He was taken into custody upon his release and faces two first-degree felony charges of human smuggling causing serious bodily injury or death. He remained in custody in La Salle County this week.
The Texas Highway Patrol is continuing its investigation into the crash. Identities of the deceased will be released when next of kin have been notified, according to troopers.
