Of all the odd spots to find myself lately, looking at Alice in Wonderland: The Official Disney Cookbook surprised me, too. I was pleasantly surprised to find a fun recipe for us all to try, especially fun for my daughter, who loves boba.

An Ocean of Tears Blue Drink
As printed in Alice in Wonderland: The Official Disney Cookbook, by Elena Craig and S.T. Bende, 2023
½ cup lychee popping boba (available at specialty stores or online)
¼ teaspoon blue spirulina powder
½ teaspoon lemon zest
2 tablespoons freshly squeezed lemon juice
About 12 ounces fizzy water
Strain the boba juice into a small bowl, and set aside the pearls. Mix the spirulina powder, lemon zest, and lemon juice into the boba juice until the spirulina is incorporated. Add the pearls back in, and split the liquid between the two glasses.
Fill the glasses gently with ice, and top with fizzy water. Serve immediately with boba straws.
