SEMPER FIDELIS was the message offered upon a special recognition Monday, August 12, by La Salle County commissioners and other local officials, emergency responders and law enforcement to Sheriff’s Deputy Rickey Galvan on the occasion of his retirement after more than twenty years of service to law enforcement and civic duty in the county. A tribute to the former US Marine was offered by La Salle Fire Rescue Chief Daniel Mendez, himself a former Marine, to reiterate the credo that a dedicated member of the USMC is faithful for life. Galvan has served as a deputy and as a sergeant for the sheriff’s office and presently in security service for the county courthouse, and has been active in the American Legion and as Veterans Service Officer for the county. His sendoff this week included presentation of a plaque by the county. He is pictured with (L-R) Commissioners Raul Ayala, Erasmo Ramirez, La Salle County Judge Leodoro Martinez, and Commissioners Jack Alba and Noel Niavez at Monday’s ceremony.
