Medina totals over 300 yards of offense and five touchdowns in rout.

Cotulla picked up the bounce back win it needed last Friday, cruising to a 47-6 win over Brackettville Friday evening at Tiger Stadium.
“It was definitely a great bounce back win,” CHS AD and Head Football Coach Esteban Rodriguez said. “Our boys did a great job of playing hard and executing the game plan for all four quarters.
“There are still some things we need to improve on, but overall every player contributed to this victory.”
Rodriguez said he credits the hard work his team puts in during the week for the win over an athletic Tigers team.
“Brackettville was a good ball club, they had some good size and athleticism,” he said. “We continue to work these boys hard in practice, explaining that games are won in the days leading up to Friday Nights’.”
Senior quarterback Alex Medina paced the Cowboys as he accounted for 309 total yards and five touchdowns. He rushed for 92 yards on five carries with two touchdowns and also went seven of seven passing for 217 yards and three touchdowns.
Rene Barrera was the biggest recipient as he hauled in three receptions for 144 yards and three touchdowns.
Frank Torres was an offensive ace for the Cowboys, accounting for 124 total yards and a score. He had a 36-yard rushing touchdown, passed for 44 yards and had a 44-yard reception.
Defensively, Marco Benavidez led the team with 11 tackles, including one for a loss. Brayden Rodriguez had nine tackles and a pass breakup.
Torres had six total tackles while Barrera had a pair of tackles, a sack and a pass breakup.
With the lopsided win behind them and momentum on their side, the Cowboys now look to make it two in a row this week against old rival Pearsall.
“We are looking forward to hosting Pearsall, we last played them in my first year as a coach back in 2015,” Rodriguez said. “It’s another I-35 rivalry that tends to draw big crowds; not to mention it’s homecoming. As a former player I always looked forward to these rivalries against Pearsall, and Dilley, I am just glad we are able to bring this game back.
“Pearsall is a great ball club that has had success in recent years. We will work hard this week to make sure that us coaches put forth the best game plan that will put our players in positions to be successful and come out victorious this Friday.”
Game time is set for 7:30 p.m. at Meyers Memorial Stadium in Cotulla.
