COTULLA COWGIRLS VOLLEYBALL
After opening district volleyball play with a win over Poteet, Cotulla has now dropped five straight league outings after action last week.
The Cowgirls fell 23-25, 12-25, 25-27 to Hondo on September 17 and 25-21, 17-25, 21-25 to rival Dilley on September 20. Cotulla then dropped decisions to Natalia and Jourdanton last week.
“We are still battling inconsistencies,” CHS Head Coach Christina Few said. “We’re playing together but we’re young and self errors hurt us at times.
“We fight hard though and our girls never back down even if we are behind on our scores.”
Cotulla dropped a three-set decision to the Lady Mustangs last Tuesday, falling 14-25, 10-25 and 19-25. They then took on state-ranked Jourdanton, losing another three-set match, 7-25, 12-25, 10-25.
The Cowgirls are currently seventh in the standings, a game ahead of Poteet. Cotulla is still only two games out of fourth place in standings with the second round of league play scheduled to begin next week.
Cotulla hosted Lytle Tuesday evening and will host state-ranked Crystal City on Friday, October 4.
