DILLEY POWERLIFTING
Nickels, Eguia both earn gold medals.
Dilley opened up the 2025 track and field season at the Holy Cross Knights Starter Meet and despite fielding only 16 athletes, competed well at the event on Thursday, February 13.
“It was our first meet but we all competed well,” DHS Head Coach James Rodriguez said. “We only had about 16 kids competing and we’re hoping to get some more out with the conclusion of basketball.
“One key highlight was our JV (junior varsity) boys capturing third place out of 11 teams, and they only had 7-8 guys.”
Rodriguez pointed out some of his running event athletes for their efforts at the event.
“We did have a few sprinters and distance runners show some good things, especially considering that it’s the first meet of the season. We’re excited to get the season rolling and looking forward to good things to come.”
