DILLEY TRACK & FIELD
Dilley was fifth and sixth overall at the annual Pirate Relays in Poth on Thursday, March 20.
The Lady Wolves tallied 24 points at the event behind Dakota San Miguel’s two first place finishes in the shot put and discus.
Hampered with small numbers, Dilley’s Wolves were sixth but tallied 48 points at the event.
“I do want to note that we’ve only been competing at the varsity level with only 7-9 guys most of the season,” DHS Head Coach James Rodriguez said. “And we’ve still been able to compete. We don’t have the numbers that other schools have, but we have some good quality kids that are working.
“At Poth we edged out Jourdanton, who carries more athletes than we do.”
Complete varsity boys’ results are as follows: 100m dash, sixth, Armando Gauna, 11.71; 200m dash, third, Armando Gauna, 24.61; 400m dash, fourth, Jacob Lopez, 52.29, sixth, Matthew Montoya, 54.06; 1,600m run, fourth, Josiah Benavides, 5:02.66, fifth, Xavier Hernandez, 5:04.86; 400m relay, second, Jacob Lopez, Matthew Montoya, Isaiah Lambert, Armando Gauna, 44.20; long jump, fourth, Isaiah Lambert, 19’7″; triple jump, first, Isaiah Lambert, 41’4″.
Complete varsity girls’ results are as follows: long jump, fifth, Alyssa Perez, 16’1/2″; shot put, first, Dakota San Miguel, 35’8″; discus, first, Dakota San Miguel, 104’11”; triple jump, fifth, Alyssa Perez, 31’6-1/2″.
Dilley was at Pearsall on Wednesday, March 26 for the Edye Lea Relays and will host the District 28-3A meet on Wednesday, April 2.
