IN THE LIMELIGHT

The cast and crew of the Cotulla High School UIL Theatre Arts Department performed their contest piece, “Teen Court: Somewhere Between Justice and Third Period” by William Gleason, at the District 28-3A UIL One Act Play competition on Friday, March 21, at Hondo High School and were named one of three advancing teams to compete at the bi-district event in Hondo. In addition to the district title, the OAP team brought home a number of awards for their performances on stage and behind the scenes, including Ashley Sanchez, All Star Crew Outstanding Technician; Hayden Ayala and Sapphira Navejar, All Star Cast; and Robert Jordan and Roland Ramirez, honorable mentions to the All Star Cast. The Cotulla team also included cast members Emma Reynolds, Jolie Benavidez, Alvaro Gonzalez, and Tyler Reynolds; and crew members Anadelia Garcia, James Christian Hinojosa, Elyssa Gonzalez, Lena Garcia, Victoria Flores-Rodriguez, Zuriana Cruz, Audrey Presley, Aries Lopez, and Jade Machado. At the bi-district competition in Hondo on March 26, awards to the CHS players and crew included All Star Crew Outstanding Technician Zuriana Cruz, All Star Cast Roland Ramirez, and honorable mentions to the All Star Cast for Robert Jordan. The cast and crew were under the direction of Nanette Garcia, assisted by Dr. Elizabeth Mumme and Marlene Costley-Maldonado.
