Autism awareness

AUTISM AWARENESS AND INCLUSION were the driving mission behind the second annual Autism Walk hosted recently by Dilley ISD’s Stronger Connections Team, celebrating “The beauty of individuals’ unique differences.” Officials, organizations and groups from neighboring counties came out for the event to help reinforce the Gosch Field celebration as a regional collaboration that included the school, law enforcement, service providers and civic groups. Present were the Frio and La Salle County sheriffs’ offices, Camino Real Community Services, Frio Regional Hospital, Chicanos Por La Causa, the Texas Department of Human Services, Morgan Mac, the city of Dilley, Team Bella of Cotulla, MHMS front office, DES Counseling Office, local businesses and several DHS student volunteers. In addition to walking the track, participants offered games and entertainment, hands-on learning toys for youngsters and activities.
