Commendations

COMMENDATIONS have been awarded this month to a pair of Cotulla residents who acted fast in response to a medical emergency in the middle of a Little League game at Martinez Park on Tuesday, May 13, when umpire Gus Gonzalez suffered a cardiac event and (Photos above, receiving their commendations) Coach Manuel Ramos and La Salle County Sheriff’s Sergeant Richard Gonzales ran to his aid and performed cardio-pulmonary resuscitation before medics of the La Salle Fire Rescue arrived on scene. The fast actions by the coach and sheriff’s sergeant are being credited with having helped save the umpire’s life, enabling his emergency transport to San Antonio.
