Joan Frances Booth Guttman

Joan Frances Booth Guttman, 72, of Cotulla, died on Wednesday, June 4, 2025 after a battle with congestive heart failure. She was born February 28, 1953, in Beeville, to William and Betty Booth.

She is preceded in death by her father and her brother, William Thomas Booth.

Joan is survived by husband Ralph Paul Guttman, her mother, brother John V. Booth, sister Theresa McComas (Fred), sister-in-law Cindy Latham (William), nephew Michael A. McComas, nephew W. P. Latham (Misty), niece Chase Moriarty (Adam) and two great nephews.

Joan graduated from Cotulla High School in 1971 and received a Bachelor ‘s degree in business in 1974 from Texas Christian University in Ft. Worth where she was a member of the feature twirlers and the Chi Omega sorority. Joan was also a member of Daughters of the American Revolution and the National Society of Washington Family Descendants.

Joan met Ralph Paul Guttman and they were married in San Antonio on January 4, 1975. For the next 50 years, the ranch outside of Cotulla was home for them and their Doberman dogs. Joan’s many passions included gardening, cooking, and collecting antiques and western art. She had a deep passion for the outdoors and enjoyed wildlife. Joan and Ralph were early deer breeders and raised exotic animals and registered Brahman cattle. Joan also enjoyed hunting, deep-sea fishing and scuba diving.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to the First Church of Cotulla, 302 Center Street, Cotulla, Texas 78014 and Texas Christian University.
