The Moore Community Improvement Club is gearing up for its annual Summer Festival on Saturday, July 19.
The free, family-friendly event will turn the grounds of the Moore Community Center into a pedestrian hub from noon to 10 p.m.
The annual event will feature several vendors, food booths, a car show, children’s games, a silent auction, a cornhole tournament, a dessert walk, a water slide, a margarita contest, and live music.
Entertainment on stage begins at 5 p.m. with Randy Brown, followed by country music artist Aaron Copeland at 6:15 p.m., followed by Tejano group Los Kamaradas Del Norte taking the stage at 7:30 p.m.
According to event organizers, a barbecue cook-off will begin with check-in on Friday, July 18. There is a $150 entry fee. The contest includes brisket, pork ribs, chicken, dessert, and chef’s choice. More information on the cook-off can be found online at moorecic.org, or by contacting Richard at (830) 365-0132 or Jesse at (830) 326-6320.
The Frio County Sheriff’s Office will have deputies on the grounds for a water gun showdown at Moore Hollow.
Event attendees are encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs.
