A newly seated grand jury in La Salle County handed down felony indictments against 17 individuals on Thursday, July 10.
The cases had been presented by the 81st Judicial District and included a range of offenses, the majority of which were related to narcotics possession.
Others related to vehicle theft and human smuggling, and one was a case involving the sexual abuse of a local child.
Details of two individuals and their indictments have been redacted and withheld pending their arrest, according to the La Salle County Sheriff’s Office.
Those indicted and the charges filed against them include the following:
Rogelio Alvarado, 70; possession of a controlled substance in Penalty Group 1/1b.
Jeremiah Alvarez, 20; possession of a controlled substance in Penalty Group 1/1b.
Joanne Garza Canales, 58; possession of a controlled substance in Penalty Group 1/1b.
Vincent Cantu, 51; smuggling of persons.
Hugo Enrique De La Rosa, 37; aggravated sexual assault of a child.
Annette Rae Elizondo, 41; possession of a controlled substance in Penalty Group 1/1b, assault of a public servant.
Celeste Sebrina Garcia, 31; possession of a controlled substance in Penalty Group 2.
Noe Gutierrez, 48; possession of a controlled substance in Penalty Group 1/1b, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.
Elisa Amaya, 29; smuggling of persons.
Alexander Mendoza, 32; evading arrest with a vehicle.
William Meza, 20; smuggling of persons with a likelihood of serious bodily injury or death.
Saul Monsivais-Celedon, 36; smuggling of persons.
Leonel Ortiz, 28; smuggling of persons.
Omar Isaac Vargas, 19; possession of a controlled substance in Penalty Group 2.
Oscar Uriel Velasquez-Tristan, 24; unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, evading arrest with a vehicle.
Arraignments have been scheduled for Thursday, August 7.
All those listed in the indictment record have been continued on their initial arrest bonds.
