Roberto Rodriguez Jr.
A Dilley man returning from a convenience store after purchasing a lottery ticket was arrested on felony drug charges earlier this month.
According to a report filed at the Frio County Sheriff’s Office, a deputy on routine patrol near FM 117 in Dilley attempted to stop a man who was walking on the wrong side of the road around 10 p.m. on Thursday, July 10.
The man, identified as 58-year-old Roberto Rodriguez Jr., failed to comply with the deputy’s directives to stop.
A report on the case indicates Rodriguez had previously been intercepted for the same violation.
Rodriguez was subsequently arrested after he attempted to evade the deputy on foot.
It was during a search that the deputy discovered Rodriguez was in possession of a knife, a glass pipe and methamphetamine he had attempted to conceal in the front pocket of his blue jeans.
Several small foil packs containing methamphetamine were found in a bag that was inside Rodriguez’ pocket.
According to a report on the case, the investigating deputy discovered 20 foil packets containing methamphetamine totaling 14 grams.
Rodriguez was transported to the Frio County Jail without further incident and faces a Class A misdemeanor charge for resisting arrest, search or transport and a first-degree felony charge for manufacture and delivery of a controlled substance.
