COTULLA CROSS COUNTRY

Cotulla’s Pablo Garcia earned gold at the Ricardo Gallegos 12th annual Cross Country Invitational in Crystal City on Saturday, August 30.
“Our Cowboys and Cowgirls represented Cotulla with pride, bringing home numerous top 20 finishes and team awards,” CHS Head Coach Leticia Carrizales said.
Three of Cotulla’s four male runners earned top 15 finishes while the fourth placed in the top 25.
Garcia was the overall boys’ champion while Saul Avina was seventh and Destyn Miranda came in 12th.
Jaziah Ramirez finished 23rd overall for the Cowboys.
Jazlynn Olivas paced the Cowgirls as she finished third overall at the event in the girls’ division.
Juliana Garcia finished 19th and Alessandra Garcia was 23rd for Cotulla.
In junior varsity action, Jerek Gonzalez took second overall in the division while Enrique Garcia was eighth and Nelson Sanchez placed ninth.
Junior high teams also competed for the first time this year and the seventh grade Cowgirls had seven runners in the top 20. They finished second overall, as did the eighth grade Cowgirls.
Junior high results are as follows: eighth grade girls, Dayana Conchas, first, Jestine Sanchez, sixth, Aralynn Valles, seventh, Jeseakahleen Alvarado, eighth, Hailey Osoria, ninth, Brooke Rodriguez, tenth; eighth grade boys, Dominick Garcia, second, Jose Vargas, seventh, Aiden Villareal, 11th; seventh grade girls, Jeseavaeh Alvarado, fifth, Andrea Valles, seventh, Aubri Ramirez, eighth, Sadie Garcia, ninth, Mikayla Valles, tenth, Louisiana Hernandez, 12th, Madilynn Briseno, 19th, Nilaree Rivera, 27th, Adelynn Espinoza, 32nd; seventh grade boys, Jasiah Torres, fourth, Santiago Rodriguez Hernandez, eighth, Charlie Perez, 16th, Aleks Peralta, 20th.
