With their playoff hopes dashed in a loss to rival Cotulla the previous week, Dilley closed out its 2025 season at home against league champion Poth, dropping a 42-7 decision in their football finale.
The Pirates, 12-1 regional semifinalists a year ago, are favored to make another run at the regional championship this season.
“Poth is good,” DHS Athletic Director and Head Football Coach David Silva said. “They’ll make another run towards the regional title.
“We knew we were in for a tougher road this year, but our kids played hard; a couple of plays made a difference in being in the playoffs and not.
“We know the future is full of promise and now starts the grind of the offseason.”
Poth scored early and often in the win, taking command from the outset.
The Wolves closed out the year with a 4-6 mark overall and were 2-5 in league play, finishing sixth in the district standings.
Stockdale finished second overall while Cotulla was third and Karnes City ended up as the fourth place team.
The Pirates are hosting Taft Friday at 7 p.m. while Stockdale will face Santa Rosa Friday in San Diego.
Karnes City is taking on George West in Pleasanton this Friday. Cotulla will take on Odem in Three Rivers Friday at 7 p.m.
