Pearsall Police Chief Daniel Flores presented a comprehensive monthly statistics report to the city council last month, revealing a decrease in crime rates and an increase in calls for service during October.
The report read to councilors during a Monday, November 10, meeting noted an increase of 63 calls for service, totaling 570 calls in October.
“It was busy as far of amounts of calls, one of higher numbers all year,” the police chief said.
Patrol officers handed out 421 warnings, handled 65 offenses, charged or arrested 31 individuals, issued 161 citations, and performed 74 security checks on businesses and homes.
“I believe you all have the narcotics report; I do not want to go through it, it will take quite a while to go through all that,” Flores said. “There was a small amount of methamphetamine, a little amount of marijuana, one vape, and two pills that were seized.”
According to the police chief, the criminal investigation department received 20 new cases during October; four are drug-related.
“We have four [cases] pending DWI labs,” the police chief said. “Nineteen cases are ready for submission; not all are from 2025.”
Flores expressed concern over two incidents that recently occurred with jail staff refusing arrestees.
“I do not have the paper, but one incident was with a female,” the police chief said. “They wanted her clear, we got her cleared and they still did not want her. This is one of the many issues we are facing with the jail right now.”
