Despite the immediate replacement of outgoing Frio County Clerk Aaron Ibarra by county commissioners, birth and death certificates will be temporarily unavailable.
The unavailability of the documents is solely due to a change in the signatory who must legally certify the vital records.
Commissioners voted unanimously on November 21 to appoint former county treasurer Anna Hernandez to serve as county clerk until the 2026 general election.
According to Ibarra, once Hernandez is officially sworn into office, she will be able to order new replacement certificates bearing her signature, a process he foresees taking “a couple of weeks.”
