Jamarkuz Ramirez averaged 20.3 points per game as Cotulla opened the basketball season 1-2, falling to DaVinci and Universal City Randolph before topping Harmony School of Excellence 56-54.
Ramirez finished with 22 points in a 78-58 loss to DaVinci. Drayden Serna added 13 points while Krish Patel had 12 points in the loss.
DaVinci led 17-11 after the first but broke the game open in the second as they outpointed the Cowboys 22-14 in the stanza to grab a 39-25 at intermission.
They would outscore Cotulla by three in the third and three in the fourth to secure the 20-point victory.
Ramirez then tallied 14 points, second rebounds and three steals in a 92-55 loss to the Ro-Hawks.
Rene Barrera added 13 points, five board, four assists and two steals while Serna finished with seven points, six rebounds, two assists and a steal.
Cotulla notched its first win of the season in a 56-54 decision over Laredo Harmony on November 25.
Ramirez had his best outing of the year with 25 points, six rebounds and two steals.
Cotulla led 15-14 after the first and the two teams were deadlocked at 29-29 at intermission.
The Cowboys held a 44-42 lead through three quarters of play and held off Harmony in the fourth to claim the two point victory.
Barrera would add 14 points, 15 rebounds, four assists and a steal in the win while Charo finished with 11 points, five boards, two assists and six steals.
Serna contributed four points, a rebound, two assists and four steals while Krish Patel had two points, six boards and a steal for the Cowboys.
Cotulla was at LaVernia Tuesday evening in a non-district tilt and will be in action at the Harbor Hoops Tournament in Corpus Christi this weekend.
