A routine towing operation turned into disarray Saturday afternoon when a tire blowout caused a two-vehicle rollover on the far west side of the county.
According to a report on the case, emergency dispatchers received calls shortly after 2 p.m. on Saturday, December 13, regarding a rollover accident near the intersection of Hwy 57 and CR 4757.
Frio County deputies arrived to find emergency medical service personnel attempting to render aid to the driver, 21-year-old Juan Carlos Cardenas of Dublin, Texas.
Cardenas, driving a 1999 Chevrolet pickup truck, told investigating deputies he had been traveling westbound on Hwy 57 when his rear tire blew out. He had been towing another Chevrolet pickup truck at the time.
The blowout reportedly caused Cardenas to lose control of his pickup truck, resulting in both vehicles rolling over.
