Cotulla looking to improve league seeding as they host Dilley, travel to Crystal City.
Cotulla topped Jourdanton but dropped a narrow decision to Hondo in district basketball action last week.
The Cowboys currently sit fifth in the standings, a game behind the Owls and Lytle Pirates in the standings.
Lytle used a strong first and fourth period to pull away for an 88-70 win over Cotulla in the District 28-3A opener on Friday, January 2.
The Pirates surged ahead 24-12 in the first but Cotulla outpointed Lytle 22-18 in the second and trailed 42-34 at intermission. The Pirates extended the margin to 62-52 after three periods of play. Lytle then outscored the Cowboys 26-18 in the fourth to pull away for the 18-point victory.
Cotulla then took on Jourdanton on Tuesday evening, January 6 and earned a hard-fought 72-68 decision over the Indians in their district home opener to even their league mark at 1-1.
With a chance to go 2-1 in district, the Cowboys went on the road and dropped a narrow 69-63 decision to the Owls.
Natalia and Crystal City currently lead 29-3A with identical 3-0 marks in district. Lytle and Hondo are tied for third at 2-1 apiece while Cotulla and Jourdanton both own 1-2 records.
Poteet and Dilley are both currently winless in league play with 0-3 marks.
Cotulla, 7-14 overall, looked to improve their standings this week as they hosted Dilley Tuesday evening and will be at Crystal City on Friday, January 16.
