A 15-year-old boy from Laredo was arrested late last month on a felony charge for unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.
The incident occurred around 1 a.m. January 22, when Frio County sheriff’s deputies conducted a routine traffic stop near Milemarker 88 in the southbound lanes of IH-35.
Emergency dispatchers confirmed that San Antonio police had reported the Ford F-250 stolen the day before.
The juvenile, who was driving the pickup truck and was traveling with his mother, denied knowledge of the vehicle’s status as stolen.
Investigating deputies contacted the owner of the truck, who confirmed he had reported the pickup stolen less than 24 hours previously.
The teen was transported to the Atascosa County Juvenile Justice Center in Jourdanton without further incident.
