COTULLA SOFTBALL
In their only action last week, Cotulla jumped out to a 1-0 district lead with a 12-2 run-rule victory over rival Dilley in the 28-3A opener on Monday, March 9.
A five-run first set the tone for the matchup as Cotulla led throughout. The Cowgirls added a run in the second and third innings to build a 7-0 lead.
Dilley countered with a pair of runs in the fourth to make it 7-2 but the Cowgirls responded with two runs of their own at the bottom of the stanza to extend the lead to 9-2.
A three-run fifth ended the outing as Cotulla pulled ahead 12-2.
The Cowgirls scored all 12 runs on five hits and had only a single error.

Dilley scored two runs on three hits but had ten costly miscues.
Cotulla’s Sareen Ramirez and Christlyn Munoz both went two for four at the plate as Munoz had a pair of RBI while Ramirez scored three runs.
Sienna Arevalo and Victoria Medina each scored a pair of runs while EJ Zertuche had an RBI single and scored a run. Bella Linares also went one for two batting with a double.
Dilley’s Danica Cano went one for two with a triple and a run scored while Kassidy Romeo had an RBI single and a run scored. Izabella Proctor was one for two at the plate with an RBI single while
Maddy Proctor also belted a single.
Early in league play, Cotulla sits tied for first at 1-0 with Hondo and Lytle while Crystal City, Natalia and Dilley are all winless at 0-1.
