Frio County sheriff’s deputies executed a search warrant at a residence on the south side of town this week and seized a trafficking quantity of cocaine and prescription pills.
The Monday, March 16, raid at the home on South Mulberry Street marks the third notable drug seizure by deputies this month.
The sheriff’s office is reporting that during an intensive investigation into the possible sale of narcotics by 36-year-old Anastacio Quilimaco Garza, deputies gathered enough evidence to file for a search warrant of the man’s home. They discovered 124 grams of cocaine along with prescription pills packaged for individual sale.
In addition to the controlled substances, the search yielded various items described as drug paraphernalia indicative of the drug trade, including a digital scale and bags used for packaging.
According to deputies, the narcotics will be sent to a crime laboratory for additional testing and formal identification.
Deputies transported Garza to the Frio County Jail on a felony charge for manufacture and delivery of a controlled substance; a first-degree felony charge for narcotics possession is pending contingent on results from the crime lab.
“Our deputies are committed to identifying and disrupting the flow of narcotics into our neighborhoods,” Sheriff Peter Salinas said. “This remains a top priority for the sheriff’s office as we work to ensure the safety and well-being of our community.”
