Munoz, Ramirez named District MVP and Defensive MVP.

Cotulla’s four-time district and bi-district champion Cowgirls dominated the all-district field, placing nine on the 28-3A squad that was announced following the team’s area playoff exit last week.
The team had four first-team selections and three second-team honorees as well as two earning superlatives for District and Defensive Most Valuable Players.
Junior pitcher Christlyn Munoz was named the league MVP for her dominant effort on the pitching mound for the Cowgirls while junior centerfielder Sareen Ramirez earned district Defensive MVP accolades for her work in the outfield.
Sienna Arevalo, Bella Linares, Jackeline Alba and EJ Zertuche were named to the all-district first team while Alexandra Gonzalez, Kaylie Carrizales and Victoria Medina were named to the all-district second team.
As well as dominating the all-district field for their efforts on the diamond, 11 Cowgirl athletes also earned Academic All-District accolades for their work on the field and in the classroom.
Arevalo, Gonzalez, Zertuche, Carrizalez, Alba, Linares, Ramirez, Munoz, Devyna Munoz, Randi Garcia, and K’lee DeLeon were named to the academic squad for Cotulla.
The Cowgirls capped another successful softball season with a 16-9 record overall and 8-2 mark in District 28-3A.
The team earned a school record four consecutive district championship as well as a fourth straight bi-district title. The team was also an area finalist for the fourth straight year, falling to Poth in the postseason last week.
