Meth, mystery and a missing mother…

A routine reckless driving call on Business Loop 35 took a bizarre turn Wednesday evening, leaving Frio County deputies with a number of unanswered questions.
Just before 6 p.m. on Wednesday, May 27, deputies intercepted the driver of a 2001 Chevrolet driving erratically along the eastbound lanes of the business loop.
Behind the wheel was San Antonio woman, 73-year-old Kathy Hagy.
During a roadside interview, Hagy told deputies she was coming from San Antonio traveling to Laredo. She claimed her vehicle ran out of fuel earlier in the trip; however, she claimed an unnamed police officer had come to her aid and provided gas.
Furthermore, Hagy claimed her mother was traveling with her. Hagy allegedly stated she had left her mother behind at an unknown location along the route but could not remember where she had abandoned her.
A subsequent search of Hagy’s vehicle revealed the woman had three grams of methamphetamine in her wallet.
Hagy was taken into custody and transported to the Frio County Jail without further incident; the woman faces felony charges for possession of a controlled substance.
