Moises Villarreal, 91, of Pearsall, died on Monday, February 17, 2025, in San Antonio. She was born in Pearsall on September 3, 1933 to parents Emilio and Luciana (Villanueva) Salinas.
She is preceded in death by her parents and her husband Jesus V. (Vargas) Villarreal, and her siblings Sarah (Torivio) Ovalle, Leonor (Hilario) Valenzuela, Brigida (Adan) Morales, Carlota (Crecencio) Morales, Emilio (Francis) Salinas, Carmen Salinas, Rosa Salinas, Consuelo Salinas, Epifiano Salinas, and Sirelda Salinas.
Moises is survived by her son Ruben (Candy) Villarreal of Grand Prairie, daughters Velda Villarreal, and Illya Villarreal of San Antonio, and Lisa (Eliot) Levy of Lake in the Hills, Illinois, grandchildren Adam (Brenda) Villarreal, Amanda Long, Laura (John) Bender, Alina Tolleson, Julia Levy, and great grandchildren Stella Long and Elliana Sol Bender.
Moises was a lifelong educator and began her career by teaching fourth grade CCD at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church for ten years, followed by two years as a preschool teacher for a Frio County Program, ten years as a teacher’s aide at Pearsall’s Ted Flores Elementary, and then finally 15 years as a certified teacher after obtaining her Bachelor’s degree in 1991 from the University of Texas at San Antonio at the age of 56.
Visitation was held in her honor at Primrose Funeral Services Chapel in Pearsall on Monday, February 24 from 5 to 9 p.m. A Rosary was recited at 7 p.m. and Mass was celebrated at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Pearsall on Tuesday, February 25 at 10 a.m. Interment followed at the Pearsall Veterans Cemetery.
Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Primrose Funeral Services, Pearsall.
