A 32-year-old Dilley man faces a felony drug charge after a Thursday morning bicycle stop led to a foot pursuit, taser deployment, and the discovery of methamphetamine.
The man, later identified as Jesse Soto, was stopped by Frio County deputies just after 9 a.m. on Thursday, June 4.
Soto was riding his bicycle near the intersection of Miller and Commerce streets when he attempted to stop his bike using his feet. The deputy noted that the bicycle lacked proper safety equipment, prompting an investigative stop.
During the interaction, Soto allegedly failed to follow the deputy’s verbal directives
According to a report on the case, Soto attempted to flee on foot prompting the deputy to deploy his taser.
A subsequent search of Soto revealed a cigarette box inside his pants pocket containing 12 grams of methamphetamine.
Following the taser deployment, Soto was transported to Frio Regional Hospital for medical evaluation and treatment.
While Soto was receiving medical treatment, deputies learned Soto was wanted on an active warrant for assault causing bodily injury.
The man was transported to Frio County Jail without further incident and faces a first-degree felony for manufacture and delivery of a controlled substance and a Class A misdemeanor for evading arrest or detention.
