Three outs away from victory, Ingleside rally steals Pearsall momentum.

The momentum of district and bi-district championships over the previous two weeks wasn’t enough to push the Pearsall Lady Mavs past Ingleside in area playoffs May 4-5.

Despite taking the first game in the best-of-three series at home 4-2, the Lady Mavericks saw their season come to an abrupt end on the Lady Mustang’s turf Friday night when they lost the final two games 5-4 and 6-3.

“We just didn’t get the job done. That’s all there is to it,” Lady Mav’s coach Debra Arocha said. “We had untimely errors, and our offense wasn’t up to par. That got us in a hole that was tough to dig out of.”

In the first Saturday night game, Pearsall made a run at the top of the seventh, going ahead 4-2 before the Lady Mustangs scored three runs in the bottom of the inning to take the win 5-4.
