Court order freezes councilor’s removal


Pearsall city councilors were halted in a decision to fill Place 3 on Tuesday, May 9, after ousted Councilor James Leal was granted a temporary restraining order by Fourth Administrative Judicial Region Judge David Peeples.

Councilors had voted to remove Leal from his seat after hearing complaints regarding his alleged violation of the code of conduct, including interference with city contracts, harassment of a local businessman, and price manipulation in a public auction.
