WCC Participates In First Books Program

The Woman’s Club of Cotulla recently participated in First Books, a non-profit social enterprise that provides new books to children in need. Fifteen students from Encinal Elementary were presented a book to own by members Louisa Franklin, Stephanie Canales and Novella Byrd on Tuesday, September 18. The following day, 80 students at Ramirez Burks received books from club members Erica Adams, Melanie Ayala, Stephanie Canales and Novella Byrd. The books are purchased or donated by Woman Club members. Founded in 1992, First Book provides new books, learning materials, and other essentials to children in need and, to date, has distributed more than 175 million books and educational resources to programs and schools serving children from low-income families.
