In a year of close calls and narrow misses, Pearsall suffered through yet another missed opportunity last Friday, dropping a 21-6 decision to Devine in district action.


The Mavericks struck first and had numerous opportunities but were likewise their own worst enemies, allowing penalties and turnovers to ultimately cost them the game.


“Football is a game of inches and won off of limiting mistakes and taking advantage of your opponents mistakes,” PHS AD and Head Football Coach Joseph Rivera said. “We were inches away from completing some big time passes that would have changed the outcome of the game, a few blocks away from breaking out a few long runs, and a few costly penalties in crucial times that hurt us.
