Bill to rename Encinal Post Office passes House

“We owe our freedom to veterans...”

The Encinal post office is one step closer to being named the Encinal Veterans Post Office, following the recent passage of H.R. 1211, a bill authored by Congressman Henry Cuellar to rename the post office located at 400 N. Main Street in Encinal.

The bill passed the House and will now move to the Senate.

Congressman Cuellar stressed the importance of naming this post office in honor of all veterans by stating. “Across my district, there are many examples of fine men and women who have honorably served our country,” Cuellar said. “A great example would be Judge Frank Weikel of Encinal, who enlisted in the United States Navy after high school and served for eight years.
