Wolves break skid, win two straight

Dilley struggled through a 2-4 stretch prior to and following the holiday break but won their last two games including a 68-39 throttling of Natalia in the District 30-3A opener last week. Prior to Christmas, Dilley dropped a 49-34 decision to Class 4A Devine and then lost a 103-55 decision to Sunnybrook Christian on December 28. Scottie Reyes had ten points, five rebounds and an assist in the Devine loss while Ryan Ochoa added nine points, four boards, a block, a steal and an assist. Ochoa paced the team in the loss to Sunnybrook with 13 points and six rebounds while Reyes tallied 12 points, seven boards, a steal and four assists. The Wolves then opened January with a non-district tilt against Crystal City, dropping an 82-60 decision to the Javelinas. Ochoa led the way with 17 points, 15 boards, a block and two assists. Izac Rodriguez finished with 13 points, four rebounds and two steals. Jared Aguilar also finished with 12 points, six boards and two assists for the Wolves. Dilley dropped a fourth straight over the holidays following a narrow 47-43 loss to Nixon-Smiley on January 4.
